Flower Power

Never underestimate the impact flowers have in your home.

This kicks off a week of d.i.y. flower arrangements that have tremendous impact on your home, but not on your budget.

When arranged properly, and in the right vessel, flowers have the power to perfect an interior.

Here, protea is cut short and  packed tightly in an antique Chinese brush pot, injecting a vivid burst of color that transforms a neutral setting, and lifts your spirits.

My very favorite way to be colorful!

Flower Power II

The week in flowers continues... simple and beautiful, these pink camelias, cut fresh from the garden, certainly make a statement. Pink, cream, green, gray and black work together to create a very inviting vignette. The very simple, tall vessel is perfect for punctuating these stunning blooms!!

Sprigs of Juniper are artfully displayed inside re-purposed thermos liners held in place with custom metal stands.

Nothing prettier or easier than placing white potted pansies in a lovely vessel. The perfect way to cheer up any room!

Flower Power IV

This beautiful arrangement was not a d.i.y., but with some time, patience, and lots of green and white blooms, it could be.. I was the lucky recipient of this gorgeous arrangement courtesy of Buckhead Blooms. It was given to me as a gift from a lovely client for whom I did design work, and it absolutely made my day, so I couldn’t help but share. Nothing quite like a very well done arrangement to make your home beautiful and your spirit soar!!

Flower Power V

Two to three bunches of tulips add a wonderful burst of color and refinement to any room. My very favorite tulip color is bright orange.  With very little effort, other than trimming the stems and placing in the vintage creamware tureen, a handful of tulips becomes the warmest of welcomes.

We so are fortunate that gorgeous, fresh cut blooms are so readily available at most grocery stores (that is where I get most of mine)!

For big impact with great ease, pick up a couple of bunches of your favorite flower, cut stems and place in your favorite vessel. For a more compact and full look, just shorten stems to achieve desired fullness, or decrease the size of your vessel. Not only do flowers make your surroundings more beautiful, but they are therapeutic- the mere thought of them. Experiment & have fun!

I hope you’ve been inspired by this week in flowers!
